    About

    With a uniquely rounded vantage point on the industry and a career spanning over two or more decades, the roles Sav has taken up—from club impresario to label owner, promoter, producer and more besides—are as varied as the different scenes that he’s helped to champion.

    As the man behind the much-storied Blue Note Club at the root of East London’s creative transformation back in 1993, Sav brought together artists, audiences and location that few would have thought to combine. His trendsetting vision has since seen him helm influential dance labels Nuphonic and Tirk Records, co-found the capital’s much-loved Lovebox Festival, and produce award winning experiential, physical and digital content for likeminded clients.

    Having produced over 3000 events, released 500 plus music titles and unearthed a few hit bands throughout his career, it's fair to say Sav's superbly open minded approach and attention to detail has earned him a reputation for selecting and directing artistic talent to great effect. His combined contribution to the musical ecosystem enables him to work with the finest in the business to make things happen the best way possible, and for all the right reasons.

    Blue Note Club

    Groundbreaking Shoreditch Venue

    1993 - 1997. The Blue Note Club was a 600-capacity, three-floor bar, club, cafe and gallery based in East London’s Hoxton Square, and is widely recognised as the pivotal venue that is responsible for the regeneration of Shoreditch and East London.
    The venue hosted new sounds and movements including Goldie's Metalheadz, NinjaTune's 'Stealth', James Lavelle's 'Mo Wax', Gilles Peterson's 'Far East', DJ Harvey's 'New Hard Left', Weatherall's 'Blood Sugar' and Talvin Singh's 'Anokha'. The club was frequented by iconic figures such as David Bowie, Björk, David Byrne and Madonna. The sounds of Breakbeat, Drum & Bass, Asian Underground and many other fusions were born here, the club influenced a generation and changed music and East London forever.

    Founded by Sav Remzi in 2003 as the sister label of Nuphonic Records.

    "A label dedicated to exciting underground music whether it was made on a Jupiter 8 or a Les Paul. It had to be eclectic, if not adventurous, but still true to Sav's roots.
    Starting with the post-punk funk of New Young Pony Club's 'Ice Cream' and Fujiya Miyagi's Transparent Things', and a brilliant compilation from disco perverters the Idjut Boys, Tirk hit the ground running. Venturing into new forms of music, but still seemingly near the edge of the zeitgeist of contemporary music, the label went on to bring together an international collection of maverick music makers.
    In its ten year history: Tom Findlay from Groove Armada has cropped up as Sugardaddy and Morten Sorensen; Greg Wilson has demonstrated why he is master of the edit; Richard Norris' sent his Time & Space Machine into orbit; the Human League's legendary producer Martin Rushent clearly showed that he still loved electronic music with 'Itchy Hips'; Maurice Fulton continued to prove that his genius is a truly warped one; and original Blockhead Chaz Jankel wowed with previously unreleased tracks and a Todd Terje re-edit of his anthem 'Glad To Know You'.
    At the same time a new wave of producers/artists also found a home at Tirk. NYC's Drrtyhaze; the SoCal grooves of Sorcerer; Sam Annand's Architeq; The Love Supreme from Italy; modern day pop troubadours Tim Chad & Sherry; Space – the original galactic disco Frenchman in helmets; the sublime electronica of Acos Coolkas; and the vital energetic disco punk band Escort – all continue to give Tirk a currency in the blurred boundaries and sounds of today's underground music and night-life." - ROB WOOD
